Ash steps across a fallen log and notices something shining near where his foot lands. He reaches down and picks it up, examining it. A faint glow emanates from its cracked screen. It appears to be an Eden staff tablet. The bottom corner is covered in blood. As he wipes at the blood to reveal the text on the screen, the tablet flashes to life, illuminating his face and the tree nearby. A piercing screech resonates from its speakers for a few seconds, followed by a friendly automated voice giving instructions in case of an emergency.

Without hesitation he drops the tablet and fires one suppressed round through its center, quieting the resonating voice. As he begins to move, he feels the ground rumble. He freezes.

A low, gurgling bark lifts through the rain, sending chills down his spine.

“We gotta go” he sends over the comms.
