Stitch steps across a fallen log and notices something shining near where her foot landed. She reaches down and picks it up, examining it. A faint glow emanates from its cracked screen. It appears to be an Eden staff tablet. The bottom corner is covered in blood. As she wipes at the blood to reveal the text on the screen, the tablet flashes to life, illuminating her face and the tree nearby. A piercing screech resonates from its speakers for a few seconds, followed by a friendly automated voice giving instructions in case of an emergency.

She quickly lowers the volume and presses the bright screen to her chest. She locks the tablet and slides it into her medical bag. As she slings the bag back over her head, her ears catch something.

A low, gurgling bark lifts through the rain, sending chills down his spine.

“Did anyone else just hear that” she sends over the comms.
